Alan Tsuda
Alan founded and is a principal in Altapoint Learning, a Silicon Valley based firm focusing on management training and development. His approach is based on the principle that management is fundamentally about working with people and that the techniques and tools of management allow us to do so more effectively – blurring the distinction between “hard” and “soft” disciplines. One participant offered, “It’s a different way to learn the subject of management. I wouldn’t have thought so, but it works.”
Alan also founded and directs ResultWorks, a consulting firm with clients ranging from small technology start-ups to global giants. The ResultWorks team assists clients to achieve measurable performance improvement through a variety of process improvements programs.
Previously, Mr. Tsuda was a consultant and project manager for several firms designing and implementing enterprise level processes for clients including the state of Maine, General Motors, General Electric, Doubleday Books, and Warner Communications. He managed product development and consulting services for a start-up software company that was spun-off from MIT and ran a systems integration division for a large computer products distributor.
In another phase of his career, Alan started up and sold a couple of software companies (and then, alas, had one start-up implode – a great, expensive experience!). Mr. Tsuda is also an instructor in project management for the University of California Extension in Berkeley and Santa Cruz and is the master instructor for the instructional design program at UCSC Extension. Mr. Tsuda earned an MBA from the Yale University School of Management where he tutored in finance and quantitative methods and was a teaching assistant in organizational behavior.
